Kindergarten
By upholding the idea of “holistic education”, ECNU Xiping Kindergarten has transdsciplinary inquiry learning based on the Guideline for Learning and Development of Children Aged 3-6 by integrating IB PYP (International Baccalaureate Organization) international curriculum system. With efforts in cultivating open, respecting and caring growth environment and emphasizing the establishment of active interactive relationship, the kindergarten ensures every kid could receive full humanistic care and supports their comprehensive and individualized development. ECNU Xiping Kindergarten is a Candidate School for the Primary Years Programme, which has over 260 children at present.
This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. The “One Body with Two Wings” curriculum system with EXPBS's features is used, which is focused on the Inquiry curriculum, followed by cultural recognition courses and interest expansion courses. The kindergarten has carried out IB PYP trans disciplinary inquiry learning, and lays emphasis on the cultivation of inquiry spirit and approaches to learning, in hope to cultivate the children featured by “confidence, creation, toughness, cooperation and care”.
※Creation of Language Learning Environment
We create an immersive bilingual environment for children with the joint efforts of foreign teachers and bilingual teachers with fluent English speaking ability. By following the rules of children's language learning and based on their characteristics at such an age, we allow children to learn Chinese and English in game and learning scenarios to improve their competence of language understanding, expression and communication.
※Culture Recognition
We've designed rich, diversified cultural activities based on the local and international perspective so that children can not only learn the excellent traditional Chinese culture but also participate in global activities in different forms to understand and respect the cultural difference and therefore become a world citizen with an open mind and care.
※Inquiry based Learning
We also attach the importance of game to children from children's perspective based on their interests and needs by referring to PBL project learning model; lay emphasis on approaches to learning, conceptual understanding,self-reflection and peer assessment; cultivate children's ability of active inquiry, thinking, communication and problem-solving.
※Interest Expansion
By taking advantage of the over 30 indoor rooms and rich outdoor learning environment, the kindergarten has designed a variety of interest expansion courses, which cover sports health, science exploration, art creation, life experience. Children could choose the courses they prefer, explore and experience what they like to finally realized individualized development.
